VSG open session — call for applications

Virtual Studio Groups (VSG) is an international community of practicing artists from more than ten countries, meeting live to discuss work in progress, share perspectives, and think together about where each practice is headed.

For the first time, we're opening our sessions to artists outside the community — free to apply and free to attend.

What the session is

A live online conversation built around your work. You'll present a project, portfolio, or work in progress, and the group will think through it with you — where it's strong, where it could go further, what directions are worth exploring.

You'll get direct feedback from the artists and curators who founded VSG and have run international residencies and artist communities since 2012, and from the rotating group of international artists present on the day.

You come with something you're working on and want to develop; you leave with new perspectives, questions, and directions to take back into your practice — the kind of response you can only get from a room of practicing artists, not a single reviewer.

Who it's for

Artists working in contemporary art, at any stage, with a project or body of work they genuinely want to think through and develop further.

How to apply

Send us an email at virtualstudiogroups@gmail.com with:

  • Visual material for the specific project or work you'd like to discuss
  • A link to your website, Instagram, and/or portfolio
  • A few sentences on what you're working on and what you're hoping to get from the session

Please note: VSG sessions may be recorded and published as part of our Magazine and archive. If selected, you'll be able to flag anything you'd prefer to keep off the record before or during the session.

Scheduling

Chosen artists will be contacted individually to plan which Sunday session they'll join. Sessions run from September onwards.

Deadline: August 20, 2026

Results: Only successful applicants will be notified, by September 1, 2026.
